Myofunctional & Myofunctional Therapy

Supporting natural breathing, oral function, and healthy growth.

About
Myofunctional Therapy

Myofunctional therapy is a gentle, exercise-based approach that helps the tongue, lips and facial muscles work together in a healthy and balanced way. These muscles play an important role in breathing, swallowing, speech, tongue posture and jaw development, so improving their function can support long-term oral and facial health.

Why It Matters

When these muscles are not working in balance, children and adults may develop habits such as mouth breathing, low tongue posture, thumb or finger sucking, or difficulty keeping the lips closed at rest. Over time, these habits can influence how the teeth align and how the jaws grow.

Myofunctional therapy encourages healthy, natural patterns that support comfortable breathing and stable dental development.

Coordinated, Thoughtful Care

Myofunctional therapy often works best alongside careful monitoring of jaw growth, bite development and airway patterns. When needed, we may collaborate with orthodontists, paediatric dentists, ENT specialists or speech pathologists to support the best outcome.

Our priority is always your child’s comfort, confidence, and long-term wellbeing.

A Gentle, Supportive Approach

Therapy is non-invasive and tailored to each child’s stage of development.
It may include:

  • Fun, simple tongue and lip exercises
  • Breathing support for comfortable nasal breathing
  • Gentle habit correction strategies
  • Encouraging awareness and confidence

Progress happens gradually, through small daily habits — at a pace that feels positive and achievable.
